According to a report from FBI, between July 2019 – December 2021, there was a 65% increase in global losses due to BEC / EAC scams. Total amount lost: SGD$60 billion over the period. One of the most prolific attack lost SGD$3.36 billion in 2021 alone.

Third party impersonation made up of 52% of all BEC attacks while internal impersonation fell to 48%. While previous year, internal impersonation was 60% and third party impersonation was 40% - a significant increase of 30% on year.
